Frequently Asked Questions

How often should my studio service its machines?

If you’re a busy reformer studio, you should have your machines serviced at least quarterly, as long as you’re cleaning regularly and doing monthly deeper cleans and maintenance checks. If your studio is mostly private lessons, once a year is great.

What locations do you serve?

We serve all of Orange County, California. Milage charges apply for any studio located more than 20 mites from Newport Beach. Depending on your LA, Inland Empire or San Diego location, we may be able to help.

What are your qualifications?

Murphy owned busy reformer studios for 10 years. She knows all about how machines get used in a studio environment and what customers notice when using machines. She can change carriage tops, deal with squeaks and bumps, troubleshoot funky footbars, check springs and give advice on how to handle equipment that isn’t acting awesome. She’s Pilates certified (duh!) and insured. She’s not a Pilates diva and thinks whatever type of studio you have is awesome!

What advice would you give to studio owners about maintenance?

Preventative maintenance is the key to a stress free studio. Aside from that, 1) Cleaning your machines is one of the best things you can do. Wipe everything down after every session and do a deep clean every week. 2) Check your springs and replace them as often as recommended by the manufacturer (usually this is every 2 years - more for high use studios). 3) Check all your machines regularly and keep a log of all the work you do.

What types of work can you do?

We can change springs, tighten bolts, replace carriage tops and assemble Pilates equipment. We can try to figure out why your Pilates reformer is squeaking or not riding as smoothly as you want. During a regular maintenance visit, we check all your bolts, ropes, straps, springs and all the things your customers touch when they use your machines. While we do clean your machines as a way to get them moving smoothly, our focus is on maintenance, not cleaning.

Why is it important to log my Pilates equipment maintenance?

Your Pilates equipment is one of your most important business assets. Regular maintenance allows your machines to work for years and years. It keeps your customers (and employees) safe. Even more, when your customers see you taking care of your Pilates equipment, they know you care about your studio.
